Kalarivathukkal Temple is the family shrine of the Chirakkal Royal family. The principal deity is Bhadrakali in her fierce avatar. She is the patron deity of Kalarippayattu. It is Kerala’s imperishable martial art form. A kalari is intrinsically an area for the teaching of Kalarippayattu. The word kalari emanates from Malayalam.
