Thirunelli Temple is a famous pilgrim centre in a beautiful jungle valley which has mountains on four sides. Lord Maha Vishnu is the principal deity. In the Maha Vishnu avatar, he is considered to be on the coils of the Snake Adi Shesha (represents cosmic energy) over the Ksheera Sagar (represents Milky Way). The temple is at the base of Brahmagiri hills. It is 30 km from Mananthavady in Kerala, at an altitude of 900 metres.

Soochippara Falls is in a beautiful location, in the middle of a dense green forest at Vellarimala in Wayanad. The drive from Kalpetta is scenic. We passed beautiful tea gardens with manicured bushes which stand on the slopes of small hills. The hills seemed to stretch endlessly. If you are travelling in the mornings, you may come across female workers plucking tea leaves from tea bushes.
