South Mumbai has several heritage buildings. As of 2012, there are 591 registered heritage structures. South Mumbai Heritage District houses many of them. Fort is the centre of activity in South Mumbai. Flora Fountainor Hutatma Chowk has roads from Churchgate and Mumbai CST stations converging on it. The area within a radius of one mile around Flora Fountain is a business district. The best time to see the place will be on Sundays because there will be no madding crowds then.

Odathil Palli is an old mosque in the heart of Thalassery town. The architecture has a distinctive style which is commonly found in mosques in Kerala. It was reportedly built in 1806. Moosakakka Keyi was the man behind construction of the mosque. The palli or mosque is not easily visible from the road as it is behind a gate which has a padippura on top. Padippura is a traditional arched gateway on a path leading to the main building. …

Eleven Churches that I Came Across on My Travels

Churches can be found all around the world. I have visited many of them in my travels. Some of them are historic and often filled with art treasures. Wealth of Roman Catholic Church is impossible to calculate. Churches in Europe have priceless art, land and gold. I  have here made a collection of my photos of churches, small and big.

1.St. Peter’s Basilica

St. Peter’s Basilica is the largest church in the world. It is supposedly built over the  burial site of the apostle St. Peter, the first bishop of Rome. The interiors are vast and filled with art treasures. Michelangelo designed the dome. Opposite the church is St. Peter’s Square. On special occasions such as  Easter, up to 400,000 people turn up at the big square.  And there is a regular stream of faithfuls who travel to Rome to visit the church.
