Reflections at Sunset

The sun was low on the sky. Sunlight filtered through the dark clouds. Rains would come down at any time. The sky and light sent reflections from the boggy land. I aimed to capture the scene although the light was harsh and I was pointing the camera at the bright sky.

Fish Fry and Jada Rice

Mangalore is famous for its seafood. Kingfish, Lady fish, bangda (mackerel), Pomfret, prawns and crabs are all part of the fare. The fish is usually eaten with boiled rice (jada rice, rice that has been boiled in the husk). So when I recently chose to have seafood for dinner, I clicked a photo. The fish is Surmai (Kingfish), masala fried.

Konkan Railway runs through Ratnagiri. The picturesque Panval viaduct is between Ratnagiri and Nivasar stations.
